FREE ► Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront
Many people enjoy biking, running, jogging, and walking along our scenic shoreline. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing on the narrow pathway has been challenging. To increase physical activity and promote a healthier Corpus Christi, the "Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront" was created by City Manager Peter Zanoni. This program takes place on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. along the Corpus Christi Bayfront on Ocean Drive, between Cole Park and the Art Center of Corpus Christi.
5K/10Ks ON THE FITNESS LANE: On Saturdays, Shoreline Boulevard is temporarily closed to northbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. creating a Fitness Lane spanning 1.25 miles for residents to bike, run, jog, and walk along the Bayfront. Online Pre-registration is required.
CLASSES are offered through a partnership with VFit Productions, and the City's Parks & Recreation Department for all skill levels, ages 8 and older at The Water’s Edge (402 S. Shoreline Blvd.). Online Pre-registration is required.

Ribbon Cutting for The Water's Edge Playground
On February 26, 2020, we celebrated the early completion of the playground improvements in time for Spring Break visitors! This project restored Fall Zone safety measures which consisted of the existing play surface being removed, a new concrete floor poured, and a new pour-in-place deck installed over the concrete. The ribbon-cutting was held at the playground, located at 402 S. Shoreline Blvd. For more information, please contact Jermel Stevenson, Parks & Recreation Director, at JermelS@cctexas.com or (361) 826-3464.

ABOUT THE WATER'S EDGE
Explore from Furman Avenue on the south end to Cooper’s Alley on the north end by the downtown marina. McGee Beach and the seawall are part of the attraction which runs along the shoreline. The 22.33-acre development has transformed this area to become the pearl along our crescent-shaped bay. The Vishal Bhagat Dog Park, multipurpose Islanders Pavilion, Playground, and Fitness Area are new features of the existing McCaughan Park located on the south end. For the foodies, we now have the food court that will be home to food trucks serving up some tasty street food and refreshments. The Great Lawn, where the Memorial Coliseum once stood, will be the stage for special events of all kinds from concerts and festivals to runs and more. The gazebo is the focal point of the Old City Hall Park which was the location of the original city hall building that dates back to 1951. On the south end, Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park will continue to serve as the site to honor and celebrate our veterans and host military and patriotic events. Shade structures throughout and restrooms in two locations were also added to enhance the visitor experience.
On April 18, 2018, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for The Water's Edge, our city's latest downtown bayfront park development. See News Release for more details about the development and ribbon-cutting event.
We invite you to come and fly a kite, explore the playground, ride your bike, relax on the beach, play soccer or basketball...the possibilities are endless!
