The Communications & Intergovernmental Affairs Department provides internal and external communication services for the City of Corpus Christi through the dissemination of information to employees and citizens.

Services include: management, operation and video production for the City of Corpus Christi municipal television station (CCTV); liaison with non-profit public access groups; coordination of communication services including print shop, video, marketing, media relations, emergency communication, website, customer call center and is the primary liaison to the media.

In August 2019, the department was renamed (formerly Communication Department) and now encompasses Intergovernmental Relations, which monitors state and federal governmental activities and represents the City's interests outside of the county and state.

Kim Womack joined the City of Corpus Christi as Director of Public Information in March of 2007 and was promoted to Director of Communication, Media Relations & E-Government in 2014. She manages a team of 36 which includes oversight of the city customer call center, media relations, website, social media, mobile applications, in-house print shop and video operations. In all, the team took 358,000 customer calls, received over 1,500 media inquiries and broadcast over 150 hours of live meeting coverage last year.

Kim grew up in George West, Texas and earned a Communication degree from Texas A&M University – Kingsville and most recently a Certified Public Communicator designation from Texas Christian University. She has worked in Corpus Christi with non-profits including Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Coastal Bend Blood Center and Consumer Credit Counseling Service of South Texas. She has over 25 years of communication experience including more than 20 state and national communication awards.
