Many people enjoy biking, running, jogging, and walking along the shoreline. To increase physical activity and promote a healthier Corpus Christi, City Manager Peter Zanoni has created a new health and wellness initiative to take place along the Corpus Christi Bayfront on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront kicked off on June 6, 2020.

The Fitness Lane spans 1.5 miles for residents to bike, run, jog, and walk along the Bayfront. The route begins along the seawall at The Water’s Edge, northbound, towards the American Bank Center, with the turnaround just before the barge dock entrance. Online Pre-registration is required.

CLASSES are offered through a partnership with VFit Productions, and the City's Parks & Recreation Department for all skill levels, ages 8 and older, at The Water’s Edge (402 S. Shoreline Blvd.). Online Pre-registration is required.

ABOUT THE WATER'S EDGE

Explore from Furman Avenue on the south end to Cooper’s Alley on the north end by the downtown marina. McGee Beach and the seawall are attractions which run along the shoreline. The 22.33-acre development has transformed this area to become the pearl along our crescent-shaped bay. The Vishal Bhagat Dog Park, multipurpose Islanders Pavilion, Playground, and Fitness Area are new features of the existing McCaughan Park located on the south end. For the foodies, we now have the food court that will be home to food trucks serving up some tasty street food and refreshments. The Great Lawn, where the Memorial Coliseum once stood, will be the stage for special events of all kinds, from concerts and festivals to runs and more. The gazebo is the focal point of the Old City Hall Park, which was the location of the original city hall building that dates back to 1951. On the south end, Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park will continue to serve as the site to honor and celebrate our veterans and host military and patriotic events. Shade structures throughout and restrooms in two locations were also added to enhance the visitor experience.

We invite you to come and fly a kite, explore the playground, ride your bike, relax on the beach, and play soccer or basketball...the possibilities are endless!
