Michael Murphy, Chief Operating Officer for Water Utilities

Michael Murphy is the Chief Operating Officer for Water Utilities. A native Texan, he is a Texas Tech University alumnus with a Bachelor's Degree in Science and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. Murphy brings with him more than thirty-seven years of administrative leadership in water utilities and public works, most recently serving sixteen years as the director of public works for the City of Greenville, South Carolina. 

In his role, Murphy will designate and lead the strategic direction of the department to identify and develop new programs, initiatives, and activities for all employees of Water Utilities. He is also responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day business operations, planning, delivery, management, and continuous improvement of all aspects within the utility. 

Murphy is a registered professional engineer, FEMA Floodplain Management qualified, FEMA Debris and Natural Disaster qualified, Homeland Security Weapons and Mass Destruction + Bio Terrorism qualified and an active member of the American Water Works Association, American Public Works Association and the Solid Waste Association of North America.

His extensive and proven record of capital improvement project management, project completion, strong financial and business judgment - along with a passion for creating a positive workplace for employees - makes Mike an exciting addition to the Water Utilities team.
