Sports

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department offers various sports programs, classes, camps, leagues, and tournaments for youth and adults. Leagues are run at City ballparks and other facilities throughout the city. We operate two public gyms and three sports fields. They are available for event rentals, leagues, practice, and more.

Temporary Closure of Ben Garza Gym for Renovations

Renovation of the locker rooms at the Ben Garza Gym, located at 1815 Howard Street, is underway. The existing men’s and women’s locker rooms and restrooms will be renovated to improve structural integrity, plumbing efficiency and water use, and usability and comfort for guests. The gymnasium will close during the renovation, and programming will be shifted to the Corpus Christi Gym, located at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway. Read more details in the news release.

Fall 2024 Micro-Soccer Co-Ed Indoor League

Eligible: Boys and Girls Ages 3 to 5
Site: Corpus Christi Gym (3202 Cabaniss Pkwy.)
The games for this five-week league will be played on Saturdays from November 2 to December 7 (there will be no games on Thanksgiving week).
Pre-Registration: Now through October 20 for $50/player
Late Registration: October 21–27 for $75/player

This league is formatted for very young children to learn the fundamentals of soccer, including passing, dribbling, and shooting goals.

Eligible: Men and women ages 18 and older
Season: Wednesdays, October 30–December 11, 2024 (no game on November 27)
Playoffs Game: December 18 with ONLY the top 4 teams competing

Fee: $375/team (Max of 12 players per team)

This league offers players an exciting platform to showcase their skills and engage in intense competition on the court. The format encourages strategic teamwork, individual excellence, and fast-paced plays.

Adult Open Play Pickleball

On-going Program: Starts July 12, 2024.
    Every Friday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Closed on City holidays)
