April 11, 2023: The contractor has started removing the form work from the piles. They have also started demolition of the guard rails and will start preparations for the new guard rail installation.

April 10, 2023: The contractor is prepping the piles to receive the last application of grout. The new guardrails are scheduled for delivery today.

March 29, 2023: Today, the subcontractor will be monitoring the choppy waters and winds at the Mud Bridge. Divers are currently working on the shallow piles, but additional work is pending based on the weather.

March 22, 2023: The subcontractor continues to work on the supports for the pile jackets and has begun installing rebar cages.

March 9, 2023: The contractor has completed hydro-mulching the project and will continue to maintain it throughout the duration of the project. The subcontractor has been forming bent caps nine and ten in preparation of grouting. They also continue to work on piling jacket preparations.

March 8, 2023: Today, the contractor is Hydro mulching the area around the bridge. The subcontractor will continue to chip bent caps nine and ten. An additional crew is now onsite working on preparations for the pile jackets.

March 7, 2023: Today, the contractor is preparing the area for hydro-mulch installation, which is scheduled for tomorrow. The subcontractor is continuing to chip bent caps nine and ten.

February 27, 2023: Today, the contractor will be working on the shoulder of the bridge in preparation for paving. The subcontractor will be chipping on bent cap number seven.

February 24, 2023: Today, the contractor will be working on the shoulders of the bridge in preparation for paving. The subcontractor will be working on chipping bent caps number seven and eight.

February 14, 2023: Today, the contractor will continue embankment work and clean up on the west side of the bridge. The subcontractor will continue chipping bent cap number four and then start on bent cap number five. They will also be removing forms and grouting voids on bent caps two and three.

January 31, 2023: Today, the contractor will be working on sandblasting the exposed rebar at bent cap two.

January 30. 2023: Today, the contractor will be placing the bull rock along the bridge embankment and the subcontractor will continue working on the bent cap repairs.

January 27, 2023: The contractor will continue repairing the bent caps today as well as filling the east side abutment voids that began yesterday.

January 26, 2023: The contractor is removing the temporary road repairs previously installed along the east abutment today.  Additionally, the subcontractor will continue to work on the first bent cap.

January 25, 2023: Today, the contractor will continue regrading the embankment. The subcontractor will be placing multiple wood barges in the water and will continue repairs to the bridge caps.

January 23, 2023: Today, the contractor will continue with regrading the embankment. Additionally, the subcontractor will be placing multiple wood barges in the water and is preparing to start repairs to the bridge caps.

January 19, 2023: The contractor will complete the grading of the roadway embankment on the east side of the bridge today and will transition to the west of the bridge tomorrow.  The structural repair sub-contractor will be bringing in additional barges and a sky lift today in preparation for pile repairs.

January 18, 2023: The contractor finished the shotcrete on the embankment of the west side of the bridge and is working on grading the areas along the roadway.

January 12, 2023: The contractor is currently backfilling the west side embankment and forming and placing rebar in preparation for shotcrete next week. They are also cleaning up trash and other debris around the bridge.

January 11, 2023: Today, the contractor is placing the final concrete on the west side footing and prepping the embankment for shotcrete.

January 10, 2023: The contractor will be pouring the last section of concrete footing on the east side of the bridge today. In addition, they’re placing concrete bags and rocks behind the new footing in preparation for the shotcrete.

January 9, 2023: Today, the contractor will be forming the westside embankment footer and backfilling behind the footing underneath the bridge.

January 6, 2023: The contractor will be placing concrete on the west side footer today. Divers will also be onsite, prepping for the underwater piling repairs.

January 5, 2023: Today, the contractor will begin digging the west side footing and embankment.

January 4, 2023: Today, the contractor is installing shotcrete on the east side embankment revetment wall. Once complete, they will begin digging out the west side embankment in preparation for the footers.

January 3, 2023: The contractor has finished the forming and placement of steel for the revetment wall on the east side of the bridge. The contractor plans on placing shotcrete on the revetment wall tomorrow morning.

December 31, 2022 - January 2, 2023: Due to the New Years' holiday, work on the Mud Bridge will commence on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

December 30, 2022: The contractor completed the concrete footer on the east side of the bridge. They backfilled the area with bull rock and started placing rebar for concrete retaining wall.

December 29, 2022: The contractor is placing the last concrete footing section on the southeast side of the bridge today, then they will move to the northwest side of the bridge and start working on the footer for that side of the bridge.

December 28, 2022: The contractor is working to form the footer on the west side of the bridge. Once complete they will pour concrete either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

December 27, 2022: The contractor continued work on the Mud Bridge today. They are currently working to form and place the embankment footer on the South side of the bridge.

December 23 - December 26, 2022: Work on the Mud Bridge project is halted due to inclement weather and the Christmas holiday. Work will commence on Tuesday, December 27th.

December 22, 2022: The contractor will continue excavation work and concrete pours of the revetment wall footings on the east side of the bridge today. They are working to build an access road on the west side of the bridge to ensure safe entry and exit for equipment and materials into the work zone. Additionally, work is underway to build a barrier system on the west side to keep the water from flowing into the work zone. Due to inclement weather, work will be halted after today until Tuesday, December 27th.

December 21, 2022: The City’s contractor will begin pouring the concrete footings on the east side (Flour Bluff side) of the channel bank.  The structural engineering consultant will begin conducting a comprehensive assessment of the bridge pilings to determine if additional repairs are necessary.

December 20, 2022: Today, the contractor will be pumping water out of the work zone and plans to begin excavation of the revetment wall footers.

December 19, 2022: The contractor for the Yorktown Mud Bridge started work on the emergency repairs of the bridge last week. The contractor made limited progress over the weekend due to high tides and increased wave action. Today, the contractor is pumping out water and repairing the areas affected by this weekend’s high tides.

December 16, 2022: The City of Corpus Christi hosted a news conference (video below) regarding the ongoing repairs to the Yorktown Mud Bridge.

TRAFFIC DETOUR

All traffic traveling east on Yorktown Boulevard will be turned around at Krypton Drive. Westbound traffic is being turned around at Arman Street. Local access is being allowed to residents only. Motorists who use the Yorktown Mud Bridge for access to-or-from Flour Bluff will need to use SPID until the bridge is repaired.
