The National Weather Service forecasts a strong Arctic cold front will move into the Corpus Christi area on Sunday. The arctic freeze will lead to dangerous wind chill values across the region through Wednesday morning. The City will offer daytime warming centers that are free and open to the public. Additionally, a cold-weather refuge will also be available from Monday, January 15 through Wednesday, January 17.

TRANSPORTATION

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) will provide fare-free transportation to and from the warming centers.

COLD WEATHER REFUGE CENTER

The Corpus Christi Gym, located at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway, will serve as a free, cold-weather refuge that will be open around the clock during this weather event. The hours of operation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024, and run continuously through 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
