The contractor is currently awaiting the arrival of the new concrete bridge arch panels. Installation for these new panels should begin next week. Once the panels have been installed, they will begin working on the concrete block walls. The project is anticipated to be completed in May 2023.
September 1, 2022
Project Update: The contractor has completed the installation of all drill shafts and 50% of the sheet piles. They are currently working on grading and forming the footings of the wing walls and placing embankment materials. Next week, they will continue installing sheet piles and forming the piling caps and footings, weather permitting.
July 5, 2022
Project Update: The contractor has completed the roadway milling and subgrade removal process on the on the southbound lanes of Park Road 22. They have also installed over 1,000 soil stabilizing geopiers. They are currently drilling new concrete drill shafts on the southbound section of the bridge.
April 19, 2022
Project Update: The contractor has transitioned traffic flow to the Northbound lanes to allow for the construction of the Southbound section of the bridge. The contractor has begun milling the existing roadway in the southbound lanes.
December 6, 2021
Project Update: The contractor is working on the east side embankment this week. Next week, they will begin the backfill in the bridge area and place filter fabric and geogrid over the holidays. Base materials and railing are scheduled for installation in early January. The northside of the bridge will receive new pavement in late January or early February.
October 27, 2021
Project Update: The contractor is currently working to complete the concrete pouring of the wall footer and will begin backfilling on the east side next week. They are also work on back filling the westside of the bridge with sand and rock. The Northbound side of the bridge is scheduled to be completed in January 2022 followed by a traffic switch and construction on the Southbound side.

Project Update: The contractor is currently working on placing sub-grade bedding material to build up the area that will eventually be the bridge departure. The Northbound side of the bridge is scheduled to be completed in December followed by a traffic switch and construction on the Southbound side. Final construction is set for January 2023.
August 30, 2021
Project Update: The contractor has completed the retaining wall and footings on the Northeast side of the bridge. They are still working on forming and pouring concrete leveling pads for new shuttle bloc retaining walls on the Southeast side. This should be completed this week followed by shuttle bloc installation next week. The Northbound side of the bridge is still scheduled to be complete in November followed by a traffic switch and construction on the Southbound side. Final construction is set for December 2022.

Project Update: The contractor is currently installing the concrete footings and sections of retaining wall on the northbound side of the bridge. The retaining wall on the East side will be completed by the end of the week. Weather permitting the northbound side of the bridge will be complete in November 2021.
July 13, 2021
Project Update: Last week’s rain event put the Park Road 22 Bridge project on hold. The project area received upwards of 32 inches of rain over the last two weeks. Crews are currently pumping water from the leveling pad location and hope to continue placing the shuttle bloc walls later this week.

Project Update: This week the contractor for Park Road 22 Bridge Project set the wall arch on the Northeast side of the bridge. Currently, three bridge spans have been completed and the prefabricated concrete retaining walls are being installed. The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2022.

Project Update: Last week Island residents saw the first set of bridge spans go up as part of the Park Road 22 Bridge & Channel Project. This week, the contractor is working to prep the site underneath the first span for the installation of the new concrete sidewalk. Once complete they plan to begin the install of the next two sets of spans on the approaching and departing sides of the canal.
