BEACH TIPS

to ensure the safety and fun of beach visitors

Traffic will be able to enter the beach areas on Padre and Mustang Islands at all access roads.

Parking permits are required in designated areas. Beach visitors are encouraged to buy their $12.00 permit before getting to the beach. Get more info.

As always, beach visitors must follow the few simple rules so that everyone has a safe and enjoyable trip:

> No glass containers
> Dogs must be on a leash
> Dispose of litter in trash receptacles
> Speed limit is 15 MPH

If you will be heading to North Beach:

> Driving on the beach is prohibited
> No glass containers
> Dogs must be on a leash
> Dispose of litter in trash receptacles
> No camp fires

BEACHES

On May 2, 2012, the City announced that it has received national recognition for its bayfront beaches. Corpus Christi Beach (later officially named North Beach) and McGee Beach were voted winners of the 2012 BEST RESTORED BEACH AWARD by ASBPA for the Community Beaches category of the Northern and Western Gulf Coast Region . Corpus Christi is one of only seven cities in the regional categories to receive the awards this year. ( In 2010, the City received national recognition for these same two bayfront beaches as winners of the 2010 BEST RESTORED BEACH AWARD by ASBPA .) Get more details.

The Corpus Christi Bay area is nestled behind barrier Padre Island and Mustang Island, as a protected gateway to the beautiful Padre Island National Seashore.

McGee Beach - Located downtown on Shoreline Blvd. in walking distance from hotels.

North Beach - (formerly Corpus Christi Beach) Just on the other side of the Harbor Bridge, there is no driving on the beach, so no parking permit required.
