![]() | The definition of what constitutes a chronically homeless person has been added: an unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has been continuously homeless for a year or more, or has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years. To be considered chronically homeless, a person must have been sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation (e.g. living on the streets) and/or in an emergency shelter during that time. |
The City Council approved the adoption of a seven-year plan on ending chronic homelessness for Corpus Christi (Plan) in 2004. The Plan included formulated goals, action steps and a timeline, of which specific objectives were met over the course of a seven-year period. An Ending Chronic Homelessness (ECH) Subcommittee was formed from the Homeless Issues Partnership (HIP) Committee to oversee the implementation of the adopted Plan.
