Over the years the City of Corpus Christi has commissioned several efforts for the protection of its historic resources. And like many organizations and cities across the nation, during the month of May, the City celebrates National Preservation Month. This year, it will be celebrated through the lens of the people. The City would like to invite photographers of all ages and levels to capture unique views of the city’s perceived landmarks.

Whether it is an architectural element that tells of an influence, an important building, a site in a historical event, a monument that helps recognize a moment in history, or a street view you would like to see preserved, the City is looking for compelling preservation highlights of what makes or has made Corpus Christi. To get started, interested contestants should visit City of Corpus Christi (arcgis.com) to access the Landmark Viewer and the Historic Resource Surveys interactive maps to explore the city’s historic resources. The more than 2,200 properties that have been surveyed since the 1990s include local, state, and nationally designated landmarks.

To participate in the contest, submit a high-resolution photograph by May 1, 2022, with the hashtag #PreserveCC22 according to the submission guidelines. For additional information, contact DSOutreach@cctexas.com.
