The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department operates four recreation centers located throughout the city which offer programs for youth ages 6-16. We are dedicated to promoting character development, leadership, education, and healthy living through our many fun and exciting activities and programs.

SPARK Camp on August 26

The camp for youth ages 6-16 will be offered on Friday, August 26, at Lindale Recreation Center, 3133 Swantner Drive. Two sessions will be available to select from as follows: a morning session from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and an afternoon session from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sign up for one or both sessions. The registration fee is only $10 per child per session. Online registration is open now and will remain open until filled. Space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged! "Saturday in the Park" on September 3

Everyone’s invited to the “Saturday in the Park” festival to jump start your Labor Day weekend with free fun activities from 3pm–10pm on September 3 on the Great Lawn at The Water’s Edge, located at 402 S. Shoreline Boulevard. 

Celebrate the holiday with LIVE BAND PERFORMANCES, FOOD TRUCKS for all the foodies out there, and a KIDS ZONE for the children’s entertainment. Admission is FREE.

Summer 2022 "Beat the Heat" Cooling Kits Distribution

For the 13th year in a row, the Corpus Christ Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with Reliant Energy to help residents “Beat the Heat!” Along with opening cooling centers, the Parks & Recreation Department will offer three curbside cooling kit distributions this summer.

Mark your calendar to join us for the following Saturday COOLING KIT curbside distributions:

COOLING KITS: On August 6, 250 cooling kits will each include a personal cooling misting fan, an in-door activity, and a fruit cup. There is a limit of one kit per person, and resident must be present to receive items. Kits are for residents of all ages. We will play it safe, so as you drive through for your kits, please stay in your vehicle at all times. Registration is NOT required. 

COOLING CENTERS: We provide a safe way for Corpus Christi residents to stay cool during the hottest days of summer. We would like to remind residents without adequate air conditioning various senior centers and libraries are open to the public and available during normal business hours. For more information, please call (361) 826-3460.

SCHOOL-YEAR SEASON PROGRAMS

 

After School Program - FREE!

This is an open campus afterschool program for youth ages 6-16 which operates in conjunction with the Corpus Christi ISD schedule from August through May each year. Youth have the opportunity to engage in special programs, homework tutorials, arts and crafts, sports, games, and much more at our four recreation centers. It offers general supervision for the children. Space is limited. After School Snack Program - FREE!

An afternoon snack will be provided daily at all recreation centers. If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies, please contact the site director. An alternate snack may be provided with a signed letter of authorization from a physician. If the parent provides the snack, the Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is not responsible for meeting the child's daily nutritional needs. The City is an equal opportunity provider.

Micro-Soccer Co-ed Youth League

This is an 8-week program held in the spring and fall for children ages 4-6 that is specially designed with a modified field and goals. Games are played on Saturdays. For more information, call (361) 826-PLAY. ► Please check back to this page periodically for updates.

SPECIAL EVENTS & PROGRAMS

 

All City recreation centers host special events throughout the year, such as dances and holiday celebrations. Events may include movies in the park, community trash cleanups, gardening clubs, cooking demonstrations, and health awareness. SUMMER PROGRAMS

"S.P.A.R.K."

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department offers S.P.A.R.K. (Summer Program and Recreation for Kids) for ages 6-16 from June to July each summer. Recreation activities such as arts and crafts, tournaments, board games, indoor and outdoor play, guest speakers, and other activities are offered at participating recreation centers throughout the summer. This is an open campus recreation program provided in a generally supervised environment for registered participants. Space is limited and all youth must be registered. Camps

Youth with different interests have the opportunity to participate in camps with a variety of activities. RENTALS

Celebrate your special occasions at our recreation centers. You have several options with four centers located throughout the city. Book your next birthday and graduation parties, bridal and baby showers, family reunions and other special events with us. A rental includes the use of the social hall, game room and kitchen, along with tables and chairs.
