City Utility Business Office Launches New Collection Program
Beginning September 1, 2013, the handling of past due City of Corpus Christi utility bills is changing in an effort to reduce bad debt and gain consistency. The new method will mainly impact customers who habitually pay late, don’t pay their utility balances in full every month, or receive disconnection notices.
If a resident knows they are having problems paying their utility bill, they must seek assistance prior to utilities being disconnected. If disconnection occurs, the entire balance and any associated fees must be paid in full prior to reconnection. Citizens seeking assistance with a payment plan prior to disconnection should make an appointment with the Utility Billing Office to avoid disconnection. Customers can contact the City Call Center at (361) 826-CITY or 2489.
The Utility Billing Office is located on the first floor of City Hall, 1201 Leopard Street and will be open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment prior to disconnection, go to http://uboschedule.cctexas.com/.
