City Board, Committee & Commission Vacancies
March, April 2013
The City of Corpus Christi is seeking individuals to serve on the following Boards, Committees and Commissions. Please contact Glenda Grasz, in the City Secretary’s Office for more information.
Airport Board – (Apr.) – Three (3) vacancies with terms to 4-04-16 to advise the Council on matters relation to the aviation interests of the City and operation of the C.C.I.A. facilities.
*REACTIVATING* Joint Airport Zoning Board – (Apr.) This board is currently being reactivated to assist in administering regulations controlling the creation of hazards in the area surrounding Corpus Christi International Airport. There are two (2) vacancies to be appointed by the City Council. Appointees must be residents of Corpus Christi.
Building Standards Board – (Mar.) Two (2) vacancies representing 1 – Engineer and 1 – Member at large.
**City Council Youth Advisory Committee - Seven (7) vacancies for High School Juniors representing the following: A Primary & Alternate from Solomon Coles High School, a Primary & Alternate from St. John Paul II High School, a Primary & Alternate from Miller High School, and one Alternate from Tuloso-Midway High School.
Community Youth Development (78415) Program Steering Committee – (Mar.) Six vacancies representing 3 - 78415 Resident, and 3 - At Large. (At least one new appointee must reside in 78415 zip code.)
Electrical Advisory Board – One (1) vacancy representing: 1 - Electrical Supply Business (at least 5 years’ experience).
Housing Authority – (Mayoral appointment) (Apr.) – Two (2) vacancies with terms to 4-04-15 to act in the capacity of a developer and manager of a low rent housing program.
Island Strategic Action Committee – (Mar.) Seven (7) vacancies representing categories of residents or business owners on Padre or Mustang Island: 1 – Commercial Property Owner, 1 – Developer of property, 1 – Padre Island Business Assn. Rep., 1 – Padre Isles Property Owners Assn. Rep., and 3 – At Large.
Landmark Commission – (Mar.) Four (4) vacancies to represent the following: 1 - Title Search/Property Surveyor, 1 - Real Estate, 1 - Historian and 1 - Registered Architect.
Leadership Committee for Senior Services – (Mar.) Nine (9) vacancies representing the following: 1 – Senior Center participant, 2 – Direct service agency, and 6 – Community representatives.
Marina Advisory Committee – (Apr.) Four (4) vacancies representing the following: 1 - Scientist/Marine Biologist, 1 - Restaurant Rep. located near Marina, 2 - At Large.
Mechanical/Plumbing Advisory Board – One (1) vacancy representing the category of a “Person not connected with the Building Industry”.
Parking Advisory Committee - Eleven (11) vacancies to represent the following: 1 nomination by District Council Member, 2 nominations by Downtown Management District, 1 nomination by Corpus Christi Beach Task Force, 1 nomination by Uptown Neighborhood Initiative, 2 nominations by Building Owners and Mgmt. Assn., 1 nomination by CVB, 1 Residential - reside where parking meters are collected, 1 Residential owner of property in City Center, 1 Community At Large.
*NEW* Tree Advisory Committee - This committee is currently being activated to assist the City Council by writing and implementing an annual community forestry work plan advising them on the preservation, new planting, or disposition of Public Trees (including shrubs/bushes) on City-owned land, and to assist the City in its management and care of trees on City Property. Five (5) vacancies; two (2) members with an initial one-year term and three (3) members with an initial two-year term, determined by drawing at the initial meeting, thereafter, all terms shall be two years. Categories are as follows: 1 – Landscape Architect, 1 – Certified Arborist, 1 – AEP Texas Rep., and 2 – Community At Large.
Transportation Advisory Committee – (Apr.) Three (3) vacancies with terms to 4-30-16 to provide advice on transportation and traffic safety matters.
Water Resources Advisory Committee – (Mayoral appointment) One (1) vacancy representing the category of Military Facility representative.
Watershore and Beach Advisory Committee - One (1) vacancy representing the category of Hotel/Condo Owner on North Padre or Mustang Island.
**These vacancies are selected by the Principal or designee of each respective High School campus and ratified by the City Council.
