National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984 and involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. In 36 years, it has grown to become a celebration beyond just leaving a front porch light on. It is an annual community-building campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

_______

National Night Out 2021 is Tuesday October 5, 2021 from 6PM - 9PM

_______

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and with the safety of our community in mind, the Corpus Christi Police Department, on the recommendation from the Nueces County Public Health District, does not recommend block parties or social gatherings but instead suggests celebrating National Night Out by:

  • Decorating Your Front Yard: Display National Night Out or Crime Prevention posters and signs to show support of police and promoting crime prevention

  • “Blue Lights” National Night Out: Have a blue light on (porch light or other light in your front yard) as a symbol of solidarity against crime and to show support for Corpus Christi Police Department and Law Enforcement.

Remember to practice social distancing, proper handwashing and wear a face mask to limit exposure.
