| Jesse “J.V.” Garcia – Assistant Chief of Operations Bureau

Assistant Chief of Police, J.V. Garcia, was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief in 2011 and is a 37 year veteran of the Corpus Christi Police Department. Previously he served in the uniform, criminal investigation, special services, and training divisions as well as Internal Affairs and was an original member of the S.W.A.T. team. He has an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Del mar College and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Operations Bureau is comprised of two Divisions (Northside and Southside) and is staffed by 242 officers under the direction of Commander Heidi Frese and Commander John Houston respectively. The Bureau is responsible for general patrol duties and traffic enforcement. The bureau also includes an Enduro Motorcycle Unit, Crime Prevention Section, Canine officers, and the Police Athletic League. For patrol operations, the city is divided into four Patrol Districts, each with its own assembly point.
