Formula Grants Awarded: funds have been awarded to these programs under a pre-determined formula. Recipients must still apply to receive said funds and provide a detailed program description and information regarding expenditure of funds. Formula Grants allocated to the City of Corpus Christi include the following:
- Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
- Homelessness Prevention
- Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
- Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
Discretionary Grants Awarded: funds have been awarded on a competitive basis at the local, state, or national level. In the case of the ARRA, most discretionary grants are being competed for at the national level.

The City of Corpus Christi is currently applying for or has applied for the following discretionary grants:
- Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2)
- EDA Recovery Act Funding
- TIGER Grant
- Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP)
