LATCHKEY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM 2009–2010

 

Attention Parents: Registration Schedule

 

The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Latchkey After School Program is the answer for working parents concerned about leaving their children in unsupervised environments.

 

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR PARENTS: The Latchkey After School Program will not offer registration on the first day of school. So, it is a VERY IMPORTANT that all children must be registered prior to first day of school, if parents want their children to participate on the first day of school.

UPCOMING PRE-REGISTRATION DATES:

»  Corpus Christi ISD parents may register their children:
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, August 4–6, 2009 from 7:30am–6pm at all Latchkey Summer 2009 camp sites: Calallen Magee Intermediate, Flour Bluff High, Houston Elementary, Schanen Elementary, Webb Elementary, and Windsor Park Elementary Schools

»  Flour Bluff ISD parents may register their children:
Latchkey Program registration will be offered on selected dates of the Flour Bluff ISD registration. For more information, call 361-826-3499.

»  WEEKEND REGISTRATION for Corpus Christi ISD, Calallen ISD and Flour Bluff ISD parents:
Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 9am–12 noon at Corpus Christi Gym (3202 Cabaniss Prkwy.)

»  ONLINE REGISTRATION will be offered from Tuesday, August 4, starting at 8am until Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 5pm. This service provides parents 24-hour convenience to register their children online at available sites (space permitting) AND to make monthly payments from their own homes. TO REGISTER ONLINE, check back during the dates listed above.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION & PAYMENT: PAYMENT is due at time of registration, before child’s first day with the program—no exception.

Registration is ongoing throughout the school year as space permits at each Latchkey program site. For availability, please call 361-826-3499.

It is a recreational program licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The program is for children ages 5-13 and features structured activities in a fun recreation environment with a staff:child ratio of 1:22. It operates Monday through Friday from the end of the school day until 6pm at 36 elementary school sites within the Corpus Christi, Calallen and Flour Bluff Independent School Districts. It observes the same holiday schedule as the school districts. Children who attend schools that do not offer the Latchkey program can register at any Latchkey site with the understanding that the parent will make transportation arrangements. Tuition is $89 per month for first child and $74 for each additional child. Tuition assistance is available for qualified participants. All staff members receive training in safety, supervision, age-appropriate activities, CPR and First Aid. A parent or guardian sign out security system is utilized. All qualifying sites will be provided with snacks through a grant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Special Nutrition Program. The program strives to provide a quality recreational experience and enhance each child’s leisure skills through arts, crafts, drama, games, special events and more.
