78415 COMMUNITY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

This program is a FREE service for youth, and/or family members of eligible youth, who live or attend school in the 78415 ZIP Code.

The Community Youth Development (CYD) Program was established in 1995 with funds authorized by the 74th Legislature for the purpose of reducing juvenile crime in areas of Texas with a high incidence of juvenile crime. Eleven ZIP codes were initially funded with two ZIP codes added in each of the two subsequent legislative sessions. The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department serves as liaison for the CYD Collaborative Committee.

The 78415 community supports families and enhances the positive development of youth, paying special attention to the aspects of youth leadership, cultural diversity, and mentoring services.

CYD programs serve youth through age 17 with an emphasis on 10 to 17 years. Services are voluntary and are provided at no charge to youth and their families. The program is also provided without regard to youth or family income.

Subcontracted Service Providers are the local organizations committed to supporting, teaching, training, and empowering our youth and their families living in 78415 communities. They provide the services to the youth to be productive, successful citizens. We must meet the needs of the youth and their families today in order to have a safe and productive community in the future.
