The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History has an impressive collection of archaeological, historical, archival, and biological specimens and artifacts. |
McGregor Photo Collection
The Doc McGregor Photographic Collection includes over 250,000 prints and negatives that depict South Texas from the 1930s to 1960s, and is the highlight of the Museum's Archival Collection.
McGregor Rotating Gallery
This gallery features a select number of photographs from the McGregor Collection that feature a common theme. The photographs change once a month to highlight various organizations, people, and events.
Natural History Collection
Natural History collections include animals, plants, and minerals from South Texas and beyond. Highlights include the Fred B. Jones Herbarium, Malacology specimens of R.D. Camp, J.D. Mitchell and others, and the A. B. J. Kirn Egg Collection. Portions of these collections have been used in books about the flora and fauna of the Coastal Bend.
History Collection
The History Collection includes artifacts that span from pre-Columbus to present day. It also includes objects from influential Corpus Christi families. The Kenedy, Von Blucher, and Galvan Collections are from historic families who played important roles in the economic, social, and political development of Corpus Christi.
Marine Archaeology
As the Texas Marine Archaeology Repository, the Museum exhibits and preserves artifacts recovered from the Spanish 16th century Padre Island Shipwreck and the French 17th century shipwreck La Belle from Matagorda Bay.
Curator's Collection Curiosities
The Collections are comprised of many interesting specimens and artifacts, but unfortunately not everything can be used in an exhibit. This page shows some of the specimens and artifacts not on display and lists the pertinent information about them. The artifacts on this page will change once a month.
For more information about the Collections, contact the Registrar, Yvette Shaffer (YvetteS@cctexas.com).
