The City of Corpus Christi Police Department is committed to reaching out to the citizens it serves while providing the highest level of professionalism and services available. The department has adopted a community oriented policing philosophy. The department's aim is to provide that information and those services necessary to reduce crime, the fear of crime and to improve the quality of life in our community. The department is working with the community toward a common goal of having the safest streets and neighborhoods possible.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is seeking qualified individuals who can serve the city in this capacity. The thirty week police academy will provide you with extensive education, training, and skills you need to excel in your role as a Corpus Christi Police Officer. Graduating officers will transition into the field during a 28 week Field Training Program. You will be assigned to work alongside selected officers who will facilitate your application of the knowledge, training and skills you learned in the academy. Your Field Training Officer will provide on the job training and evaluate your performance during this period.

Upon successful completion of the field training program, you will be assigned to serve in the Community Policing Division where you will perform various patrol duties. These will include answering calls for service, enforcement of laws, apprehension of violators, investigating crimes, resolution of family disturbances, as well as traffic enforcement and investigation. You will also be allowed to be proactive and solve problems as needed in your assigned areas.

After you have completed 60 months of service, you will become eligible to serve in many specialized sections within the Police Department. These include the Criminal Investigation Division and Special Services Division. Here you will be assigned to investigate homicides, robberies, burglaries, thefts, organized crime, narcotics, auto theft, sexual assaults and other various other types of criminal activity.

As a Corpus Christi police officer you will receive continuous training throughout your career and will be provided with the opportunity to attend specialized schools to help you meet your full potential.
